Discover a new phrase each day to use in your English! These are special phrases and sayings that English speakers use all the time, but you don't often see these phrases in English course books or other study material. Visit daily to learn some popular English phrases on a regular basis.

"Leave it to me"
We use this expression to tell someone that we are happy to take responsibility for doing something.

We use this expression to say that something is final and forever.

"And that sort of thing"
We use this expression after giving an example to indicate that there are other examples we could also use.

"Basically"
We use this expression to summarise an opinion or what someone thinks, says or does.

"That's a fat lot of use"
We use this expression when another person makes a suggestion or offer that isn’t useful or helpful. When we say this we are probably a little angry with the person for making such a stupid suggestion. It isn’t very friendly.

"That's easy for you to say"
We use this expression when another person thinks a situation is easy or simple but you think it is quite complicated or difficult.
