We use this expression to say that it's a good idea to try something.

We use this expression to ask for an explanation.

We use this expression to say we are looking forward to something - or ironically to imply we are not looking forward to something.

We use this phrase when we think somebody has told us a lie to make a joke.

We use this expression to say that something does not exist.

"Chicken out"
We use this expression to warn someone that there will be negative consequences to something. It's often a threat.
