Julie Dyke, Teacher
Hi, I'm Julie and I've been working at IH Bristol since July 2009. But I first came to IH Bristol in 2006 when I trained to be a teacher.
I studied Education and Psychology at university and worked in a range of schools before specialising in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages. Last year I taught English in Melilla, a Spanish enclave on the north coast of Morocco. I worked with a both adults and young learners, helping them prepare for their Trinity exams. Before that I taught ESOL in Taiwan and within a British mainstream School.
I grew up in a town close to Bristol and have always loved this area, but I also enjoy travelling and finding out about other cultures. Working here gives me the best of both worlds, as I can be close to my family and spend my days talking to people from all over the world. I love being in the classroom, I am a bit of an amateur actress at heart and like to add some drama to my lessons when possible.
Out of work, I enjoy playing pool and watching films, but my main passion is dancing. I have taken dance classes in many styles throughout my life, and I especially enjoy salsa.
