Jaclyn Bates, Social programme coordinator and teacher
Hi, I'm Jaclyn. I first came to IH Bristol as a trainee teacher in January 2009. After staying as a cover teacher and then a summer teacher, I left these shores for the sun and sand of Saudi Arabia.
After seven months teaching English at a university in Riyadh, I came back and took over the position of Teacher and Social Programme Organiser. I’ve also lived in Peru and Brazil so I understand how you feel coming to live in a different country and trying to learn the language!
I like travelling to lots of different countries. I love to meet people from all over the world and find out the places they have been to, too.
The Social Programme is great because it is varied, fun and cheap. We have lots of exciting events during the week and longer trips on Saturdays. All the students (and staff!) can enjoy themselves and have a chance to practise their English away from the classroom!! I’d also love to hear your suggestions for new trips so tell me what you like and I’ll do my best to include it in the programme in future.
