Ian Watson, Teacher

Teacher Ian WatsonI'm Ian, and I've worked at IH Bristol since the summer of 2005. Before coming here I spent a year teaching English in China and several months in Malaysia. Sadly, I didn't have much of a chance to explore any other Asian countries, so one day I'd love to go back to that part of the world and see the sights of Japan, Korea, Thailand, the list goes on!

I think I'm lucky to have a job where I get to meet so many interesting people from very different backgrounds and cultures. Getting to know students and learning about them is just as important to me as it is to help them improve their English. I also appreciate how difficult and frustrating language-learning can be, so I have great admiration for our students!

As far as spare time goes I love to spend it with my friends, usually listening to music, watching films and playing videogames. I especially love rock and hip hop music, action and drama films and Asian cinema, as well as games that can either be played with friends or offer a decent challenge to a single player. Some recent highlights for me include the Them Crooked Vultures album, The Hurt Locker, Old Boy, Rock Band and Bayonetta.
